Imagesinwords just posted a completely innocent journal entry about Erin Brokovich.
This entry made me think about the state of affairs our legal system is in. Not just in the UK but all over the world I suppose.
Why should it be that lawyers representing the larger corporations or medical professions be allowed to tie up people with no money (or on an honest wage) with litigation that can span out for years leaving the average person no course of action but to drop a perfectly good lawsuit just because they can’t match the funding of the opponents lawyers?!!
There has to be some hypocrisy to this as the legal system seems to be far from fair! Can we really buy ourselves out of legal problems?!!
I have heard of people dying before they see a conclusion to perhaps a lawsuit against a doctor/hospital where the judge ruled in the favour of the now deceased! Whoopee indeed!
Friday nights use to be great TV for films. Always giving a choice of three or four good films. Well tonight I had a choice of two. The first being 'There's Something About Mary' which I watched midweek (again), so it left me with Cloverleaf!
I wish I'd have had an early night!!!!
I thought it was crap yet some criticts have it on there all time top ten list. Go figure.

You're right it really hasn't changed that much over the years the rich has always had the advantage over the poor and it being corporations just makes it worse. The only possible way to even things up would be to set a price limit on services for the legal profession that all charge no matter the case. Since lawyers make the laws I doubt that'll ever happen.

That is something that I have never really been able to wrap my mind around and feel it is a very crappy aspect of the legal system.

It has always been the same and shows how vulnerable the legal system is to corruption.
Because in my mind that’s what it is and it’s just another way of keeping the lower classes in their place.
